Sunday night, we made history. Together, we achieved great change.
Every one of us who has worked for reform needs to make our voices heard. Together, we achieved real change and together, we can stop the spread of misinformation.
With your help, we passed reform that will make health care more affordable, stop insurance companies from denying coverage to children with preexisting conditions, and slow our country’s skyrocketing health care costs.
As I voted for health care reform, I thought about the thousands of people who have called, emailed and written me to share a story of how they struggle every day to afford health care for their families.
I thought about the parents who worry that their children will be denied coverage for preexisting conditions like diabetes and asthma. I thought about the seniors I’ve visited who can’t afford their prescription medications and the small business owners who are struggling to keep their doors open during these tough times.
For all of these people and the thousands more in similar situations, I’ve stood strong since we first started working on health care reform. Last summer, I voted in committee for real reform and again in November of last year.
I’ve stood up for real reform since the start. Now, I need you to stand with me.
Already, opponents of health care reform are heavily organized and will be spreading lies about what health care reform means for American families. Millions of dollars are being spent by special interests to undo the change that we’ve achieved. While they may have corporate dollars, we have the will of the people and the facts on our side. We must stand up against those who use fear and manipulation to stand in the way of real change.

Together, we’ll get out the truth about health care reform: children with preexisting conditions can no longer be denied coverage, more seniors will be able to afford their prescription medication, and millions of American families will not have to worry about the choice between making ends meet and seeing a doctor. In my district alone, 533,000 people’s coverage will be improved.
Together, we can blunt the overblown rhetoric and continue to fight for change.
