Congressman McNerney on serving you: "It's been an incredible experience"
Congressman Jerry McNerney wrote a commentary for the Tracy Press that was published in today's paper.
It’s been just more than seven months since I took office representing you and California’s 11th District in Congress. It’s been an incredible experience. I’ve learned so much and met so many people in Washington and in the district where I spend every weekend meeting with you and other community members at Congress at Your Corner events, parades, fairs and town hall meetings.
Looking back on the past seven months, I wanted to give you a brief update on what I’ve been up to.
Jerry continues the Op-Ed by highlighting his service to constituents, including the "Healthy Communities Water Supply Act" that he introduced and passed through the House with wide bipartisan support.
In addition to releasing his list of "earmark" funding requests to the public and supporting strong ethics measures in the House, the Congressman has also focused on economic development in San Joaquin County:
I’m committed to helping create jobs in San Joaquin County through the expansion in use, research and development of new energy technology. Before I was elected to Congress, I spent more than 20 years working with wind energy and other types of clean energy technology. I know San Joaquin County is well-positioned to benefit from the well-paying jobs that are being created by the renewable energy industry.
That’s why last week I chaired an Economic Development Summit at the University of the Pacific focusing on economic growth and job creation in San Joaquin County.
Finally, Jerry informs Tracy Press readers about his commitment to meeting with people in the community where they gather (as opposed to expecting folks to come to his office):
One of the most rewarding parts of representing the 11th District is being able to return home every weekend to tour the region and meet with community members to hear their concerns. To date, I have held 21 Congress at Your Corner events — including one recently at Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Tracy — in which I go to a supermarket, coffee shop or restaurant and spend an hour meeting with residents.

Mr. McNerney:
I am at my breaking point with the state of transportation or lack there of in my area (Mountain House). I travel to work on avg. 3 days a week approx 28 miles to San Ramon and it takes me anywhere from 50 min to 90 min any given day. Today (10/3) happens to be the 3rd time this yr where the traffic accidents have caused me to voice my concerns. A great deal of these major accidents involve big rig trucks that cause complete gridlock. What is being done????

Jerry, you have been oddly silent for almost two months. The only thing we have heard from you was the demand to silence Ruch Limbaugh, complete with bad phone links to the radio stations that carry his free speech. You haven't responded publicly to the letters to various newspapers complaining outside influences have bought you. Now, I view your blog and see almost nothing since last summer about any topic. Whats up?
