Pete McCloskey endorses Jerry McNerney!
Today, Jerry McNerney received the endorsement of former Republican Congressman Pete McCloskey.
On the same night that Jerry won the Democratic primary overwhelmingly, Pete McCloskey received almost a third of the vote against Richard Pombo in the Republican primary in the 11th Congressional District. These are moderate Republicans who are fed up with Pombo's corruption and his extreme positions on issues important to Americans.
"Jerry McNerney is an honorable man that has not and will not seek to enrich himself and his family through his office," said McCloskey. McCloskey also blasted Pombo for being corrupt, tied to Big Oil and a danger to the environment.
Jerry is very excited about the news.
"I am very pleased to have Pete join us in our effort to defeat Richard Pombo and restore ethics, honesty and integrity to the people’s house," said McNerney.
You're invited!
Please join Pete McCloskey and Jerry McNerney at a press conference on Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at McNerney headquarters in Dublin. The address is 6250 Village Parkway, 2nd Floor.
If you would like to share your thoughts with Jerry about this excellent news, please post a comment!
With Pete McCloskey behind Jerry -- and your contributions of time and money -- we can defeat Richard Pombo in November!

Pete McCloskey is one of the few thoughtful Republicans left in this country. His endorsement of Jerry is no surprise, but it's wonderful news!
I'm looking forward to doing precinct walking for Jerry this fall. We're going to win this election!!

Congratulations! Jerry should use McCloskey's tagline, "Restoring Ethics to Congress."

Just goes to show there actually is some sanity left in the Republican party.
Whatever happened to those fiscally-conservative, keep-government-out-of-your-bedroom, states-rights, preserve-something-for-future-generations Republicans? Pombo sure isn't one -- but McCloskey is. Good for him.
Charles Barkley said it best recently: "I was a Republican - until they lost their minds."

This is proof that there is a large body of Republicans who are not blindly lock-stepping to the Administration's tune. We can't out-spend big oil, but with people of common sense and good will, people like Pete McCloskey...and us...we can out-vote them, and vote them out!

WAY TO GO JERRY!!! This is huge! Nothing tastier than an endorsement from an actual, real Republican! McCloskey understands that even though Jerry is from the opposing party, his win over Reprehensible Richard Pombo will be a good thing for California, and America. This is great news. Well done everyone at McNerney headquarters!

Congratulations, Jerry, on winning the endorsement of Pete McCloskey!
We are counting on you to bring your bold vision to this Valley and beyond. It is imperative you and people just like you get in there and help turn this country around. And we know you are counting on US to get you there!

Congratulations, Jerry! I cannot be there on Wednesday, but will be there in spirit. Pete McCloskey's endorsement of you represents one of the finest aspects of American democracy, as will your win over Pombo in the fall!

I'm with you all the way Jerry. I will do what I can here in the Stockton area. I signed up to volunteer. Pombo must go!!!

Great endorsement! Says a lot for McCloskey as well as for Jerry. I look forward to your victory and the defeat of Pombo and the dark side.

McCloskey's endorsement should send shockwaves through the Pombo camp. Wish I could be there for the press conference.
I hope Jerry will be the first Democrat running this year that will take a solid stance on the Iraq war and characterize his incumbent Republican opponent as one that voted to keep our troops in Iraq.

Congratulations, Jerry, on the endorsement from Pete McCloskey and Well done to everyone at McNerney campaign headquarters!
This should make for some interesting media spin soon.

Pete is the first Republican to officially endorse Jerry, and that is good new. There is still a lot of work to win over the rest of them. The list of things that Pombo has NOT done for this district is very long and we need to be fed a constant diet of his failings.

Bravo Jerry! You deserve this endorsement, as you are the ONLY honest candidate in this race. I've been horrified at Pombo's efforts to dismantle the Endangered Species Act, drill in AK, enact off shore drilling as well as many other despicable acts. All this while he put his family on his payroll!! Let's send him and Bush back to their ranches, perhaps there they can do less damage to our country and environment!

Jerry, this is fantastic news. I've always thought Pete McCloskey had a great mind and heart. This is a huge boost to those of us who know we must replace Pombo for ourselves, our children, and our grandchildren.
Here's to two great minds with two big hearts working together to make the planet better.

Great news, Jerry! And sure enough, Tom Benigno has climbed aboard as well! This Pombo must have caused some sore feelings in his own party for both Republican primary challengers to throw their support to you. You do have a bold vision.

Congratulations, Jerry! Pete and Tom are simply demonstrating that true Patriots work for what is best for the USA, not just work for the best of their party.
Thank you all!
