Jerry joins Al Franken on Air America!
UPDATE: You can listen to Jerry's interview with Al Franken by clicking here!

Great news!
Jerry McNerney will be joining Al Franken live on Air America between 10 and 10:30 a.m. this Friday morning!
This just won't be any appearance. Jerry is joining Al in San Diego at a special broadcast set up for DemocracyFest -- the third annual celebration of grassroots political organizing inspired by Howard Dean's presidential campaign. Hundreds of energized citizens from the grassroots and netroots will join dozens of national political and opinion leaders this weekend in San Diego for "education by day, celebration by night."
DemocracyFest is loosely associated with Democracy for America -- the national organization founded by Dean that just endorsed Jerry (with your votes!) with the coveted 2006 DFA "Grassroots All-Star" honor.
Al Franken will open DemocracyFest with a live broadcast of "The Al Franken Show" coast to coast on Air America Radio from San Diego State University. Jerry will be interviewed live during the 10 to 10:30 a.m. block, Pacific Standard Time.
You can listen to Al's interview with Jerry on your local Air America radio station. If Air America is not available in your area, you can listen live on the internet at:

If you have any thoughts on Jerry's appearance, let us know by posting a comment here. (By the way, Jerry really appreciated your compelling comments on the "Independence Day" blog post last week).
Thank you and enjoy the show!
Eden James
Grassroots Director
p.s. I'll be at DemocracyFest as well, along with fellow McNerney staffer Vicki Cosgrove. If you are going to be in San Diego also, shoot me an email (eden AT jerrymcnerney.org) so we can meet up!
I sent a contribution even though I live in Tennessee because I belive this is one of the most competitive Democratic candidates in the country.
While Jerry McNerney does support border security, he does not support "ethnic cleansing", like the Republicans.
I just read where Bush is claiming credit for a lower deficit saying that corporate tax revenues are up.
What he doesn't say is that the reason for this is the obscene profits that the large oil companies are making after charging $3 a gallon.
This country desparately needs a change.

This is great! Lots of exposure for Jerry. Make sure to come with some jokes! You'll be talking to the already-converted, so while you do have to introduce yourself and what you stand for, it's a good opportunity to have some fun. I think you'll get people's attention if you make them laugh (which is why a lot of folks listen to Al Franken's show). Good luck! I'll be listening. . .

Jerry needs to press other well known Dems (Feinstein, Boxer, Clinton (Bill & Hillary), Gore, etc. to come to this district to campaign...We need to put the national spotlight on Pombo to get him out!!

I just listened to Jerry on Al Franken's show from San Diego. Great job! I voted for Jerry as a Write-In in the 2004 election and again in this year's Democratic Primary. Hearing him on Al's show made me proud that I've voted for him (and will, of course, again in November).
By way of some constructive criticism, I was a bit surprised, however, that neither Jerry nor Al brought up the ties that Pombo has to Delay and Abramoff.
Keep up the good work and best of luck.

I listened to Jerry and Al Franken yesterday, and the two of them really clicked. I really liked Jerry talking about how biodiesel and ethanol could help the Central Valley become an energy producer. I also enjoyed the banter about Pombo being scared by the most recent polls, and responding by putting out a hit piece on Jerry (received it yesterday).
People know that Pombo epitomizes the corruption in Congress, but running on Pombo's negatives is not going to sell the public on Jerry's strengths. The proactive, positive, knowledgable message we heard on Al Franken makes Jerry refreshing and compelling. At the right time, Jerry will get a chance to talk about the mistakes Pombo (and his corporate patrons) have made.
Finally, Jerry reminded people that they have to get involved in order to make democracy work.
Excellent way to end the interview!

Jerry can take advantage of the heat wave and turn it to his advantage, linking it to climate change and this administration's and Pombo's failed policies.
Keep it short and punchy, ie: HOT ENOUGH FOR YOU? This heat wave (or weather) brought to you by: (fill in the blank with one of Pombo's and Bush's eff ups re: energy and polution causing massive global climate change.
